Only members of the Scottish League are allowed to enter the Scottish Cup directly, the remaining clubs have to qualify via the Scottish Qualifying Cup. Until 1930 there was a single nationwide tournament, since then there has been regional tournaments. Currently there are seperate cups for the North and South with the 4 semi-finalists from each tournament qualifying for the Scottish Cup.
