UEFA Cup Entrants 2000-01

Since 1999-2000 the UEFA Cup has incorporated the old UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and thus National Cup Winners will compete in it along with other clubs finishing just below UEFA Champions League qualifying positions in their National Leagues. The format for 2000-01 remains unchanged from the previous season. Some countries allocate their lowest UEFA Cup place to the National League Cup winners (these teams are shown below in italics prefixed by ¤). In addition three places are reserved for winners of the UEFA Fair Play Competion and three places are allocated to the winners of the UEFA Inter-Toto Cup Finals.

Note that if the National Cup Winners qualify for the UEFA Champions League then the Cup Runners-up are entered in their place (these teams are shown below in italics). If the Runners-up also qualify for the UEFA Champions League then the losing Semi-Finalists play-off for the place (these teams are shown below in italics prefixed by *). If an entrant which is not the National Cup winner finishes lower in the league than the highest placed team qualifying via league placings then the team placed higher in the National League will be allocated the place in the First Round normally allocated to the National Cup winners (the teams involved are shown below prefixed by ¤).
